About Us

The bedrock of Detroit Laser Services, LLC mission to be a quality driven, customer-focused company began in 1978. Our co-owners met and became friends in 1st grade and have carried this vision with them for over 36 years.   

Detroit Laser Services, LLC is a US Army Combat Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), ISO 9001:2015 certified company, co-located among several industry leading prototype, manufacturing and fabricating facilities.  We focus on automotive, aerospace, medical and furniture prototype innovation.  

We provide 3 Dimensional & 2 Dimensional Laser Cutting capabilities using industry leading design and laser programming software.  All design and programming is produced offline for maximum efficiency and accuracy. The flexibility of our laser systems and our expertise provides us the ability to process a wide variety of material types and thicknesses. 

In addition to our laser services, Detroit Laser Services has expertise in CAD Design and can turn around Prototype, Production, One-off, Short run production, Fixture / Gauge Building, Wire work, Wire EDM, Fabricating, Rematching, Rework, Tool Design, Stamping, Welding, Assembly, CNC,Molds and more on time.  Providing our customers a seamless full service part and assembly prototyping and production facility.

Our Founders

Dave Ayers - Owner & General Manager

Dave has been on the forefront of metal fabrication; specifically laser cutting advancement in the Metro Detroit area since 1993.  Dave offers twenty four (24) plus years of laser cutting, design, metal fabrication & prototype metal stamping experience working with and along side many of the premier prototype and automotive companies in the area. With over two decades of hands on laser cutting and fabrication experience in both operating as well as on and off line programming, you can be assured your parts will be processed to exact specifications required in a timely manner. 

Dave, played football on scholarship at Kemper Military College and also attended Lindenwood University prior to devoting his efforts in the metal fabrication industry.

Tom Van Buskirk - Owner & Business Management

Tom brings over 24 years of progressive enterprise leadership, sales, management, business and military leadership experience to Detroit Laser Services.  He earned a Masters Degree in Business (MBA) with focus on Technology Management. He also holds a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM) credential and Hammers Certification in Business Process Improvement. He has extensive experience in program management, process improvement, logistics life-cycle management and ISO Quality Standards 9001:2015 through training, implementation, auditing and enforcement of these standards.  

His mission (customer) first focus comes from his 24 years service in the U.S. Army.  Tom currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has served his country overseas in support of the Global War on Terrorism, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle campaigns.
